Guided tour between history, food and wine: fanciful Siena
Together with our tour guide, you will discover what was eaten in the Middle Ages, as well as how the bustling and noisy market of the 1300s took place. Turning the corner, you’ll be able to see where the butchers, fishmongers and wine makers had their shops, and what was offered to exhausted pilgrims along the Via Francigena journey, for which Siena, due to its position and reception facilities, was a must. And wandering through history, this guided tour will offer you many tasty stops to get to know today’s flavors of ancient tradition. The typical products of Sienese food and wine have always been in dialogue with the historic city: crostini and bruschetta, Cinta Senese cured meats and pecorino with honey, panzanella and bean soup, ricciarelli, cavallucci, Margherita panforte and gingerbread with a spicy scent. Each dish is accompanied by his own wine: a glass of Chianti or Brunello, of Nobile or Vernaccia and, if appropriate, of Vinsanto. At the end of the visit, your eyes and palate will thank you.
Duration: half day.
