Guided tour of Trequanda, Montisi, Petroio, San Giovanni d’Asso
Woods of holm oaks and the lunar landscape of the Crete Senesi are the background of these small medieval jewels, perched on the hills south of Siena. The villages tell us the story of the great factions of the time, as well as of the humble people who were also part of it and fueled the legend, such as Bonizzella Cacciaconti. With this guided tour, you will admire the prestigious buildings that have survived through times: the Cacciaconti Castle and the Church of Sant’Andrea in Trequanda, the grancia in Montisi, the castle and the church of San Pietro in Villore in San Giovanni d’Asso. Our guide will also take you to retrace the history of the ancient crafts of these places, where it seems as time has stopped, visiting the workshops of terracotta artisans. In Petroio the guided tour continues in the Terracotta Museum. The food and wine offer is also very rich: wine, oil, meats, cheeses, but above all the white truffle—you will not miss the opportunity for a delicious stop!
Admission fee recommended: Terracotta Museum.
